Worked example with €2,000 invoiced per month
Assume registration in 2024, birth year 1990, no children, €400 in expenses, €72 in deductible input VAT and e-EFKA category 1. Monthly VAT payable is €480 − €72 = €408. Contributions are €260.77 a month. Annual income tax is €2,114.15 and the new advance is €1,162.78 (at the standard 55%). After setting these amounts aside, about €1,066.15 per month is left.
When the calculation applies
The estimate covers a sole trade with continuous activity, including all 12 months of 2026. It assumes domestic transactions, steady revenue and expenses, and all invoices, expenses and contributions paid in the period. It covers the ordinary income tax scale, regular VAT at 24% on all sales and the confirmed domestic small business exemption.
Reduced VAT rates, cross-border transactions, regime changes, non-deductible expenses, depreciation, prior-year losses, personal deemed expenses and special income treatment such as contractor income taxed as employment require a separate calculation.
From year 4, the minimum income can depend on the activity code, reductions or exemptions. Tax uses the higher of profit after paid contributions and the confirmed minimum. When profit is at least €50,000, the minimum cannot change the result. The advance payment is separate from final income tax.
