What to look for in your broker statement
For each dividend or interest payment, note the gross amount, the source country and the tax withheld. Your broker may be based in a different country from the source of the income.
With €1,000 gross in foreign dividends and €30 in documented tax that qualifies for a credit, the Greek tax of €50 falls to €20.00, assuming there are no other amounts in the example.
For ETFs, check the fund domicile and legal status in its official documents. The 0.5% shareholding threshold applies to listed shares.
